Nate Brown

Academic Co-Director

Nate Brown (J.D., Southern Illinois University, 2010) is a lawyer in Belleville, Illinois, focusing on matters of complex litigation with an emphasis on claims arising under the Federal Tort Claims Act. His practice includes work in both state and federal courts in Illinois. He has previously been specially admitted to practice in federal courts in Virginia and Minnesota. For many years, Nate has assisted with the SUSI program, serving as a volunteer, session presenter, and organizer. Originally from southern Illinois, he is a two-degree graduate of Southern Illinois University, holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Juris Doctorate. During his time at SIU, Nate served as both the undergraduate student body president (‘05-‘06) as well as the student representative on the SIU Board of Trustees (‘09-‘10)—roles in which he coordinated legislative lobbying activities in Springfield to support SIU’s legislative priorities and preserve the State’s need-based monetary award program (MAP) to assist students who wish to attend Illinois’ higher education institutions.
