Joel Olufowote (Ph.D., Southern Illinois University, 2013), assistant professor of political science at McMurry University in Texas, is in his sixth year as Faculty Mentor with SUSI. At McMurry, Olufowote is credited with establishing the Diversity Affairs Council, Center for Community Inclusion and is also a rotating faculty advisor for the Model UN program. Olufowote’s research, teaching, and service reflects his international background and commitment to diverse cultures and traditions. He currently serves on a campus Internationalization initiative sponsored by the American Council on Education in Washington DC. Olufowote enjoys seeing past participants excel in various capacities post-program completion and believes his experience with SUSI is one that will follow him for many years.
